Eventually achieving her goal of celebrity, she became famous for her pin-up girl looks and star presence. A firm believer that a woman should embrace her femininity in order to appeal to men and the larger world, Mansfield proudly displayed her physical assets in order to gain fame. While Mansfield was often compared to Marilyn Monroe, she never reached Monroe’s level of success. Instead, her career seemed to falter as quickly as it rose, pushing Mansfield into relative obscurity as a b-level celebrity. Starring Loni Anderson as Mansfield and featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger, this made for TV movie traces Mansfield’s path to fame and her eventual decline. Anderson successfully captures the essence of Mansfield, aptly portraying the drive and determination that helped Mansfield accomplish all she did before dying tragically in a car accident in 1967.
