1923 Ford Model T T Bucket

1923 Ford Model T T Bucket

For consignment, a 1923 Ford Model T T Bucket with a title verified 7,196 actual miles and a hot rod engine that includes aluminum heads and an Offenhauser intake. Great chrome, great paint, and a canvas top help create one wild, good looking ride.

Exterior

The open wheel frame sets the front tires ahead of the grille and headlights and the exposed engine looks like it’s floating on air while sending high rise tunnels up and over the grille and within the sightline of the driver. The bucket itself is painted Black Cherry and depending on the light, both black and cherry come to the forefront. As an extra bonus, a pinup doll decal augmenting the body along with pink and teal pinstriping. Tuck and roll patterned tan vinyl covers the gas tank in back and tan blends with that of the canvas top with its round plastic window, all in good shape. 15-inch Weld DragLite wheels of drastically different width are fantastic additions to the collection of polished metal that can be seen throughout, including on the winged motometer that tops the shell of the aluminum radiator below. Imperfections include some scratches on the top edge of a faux door where it meets interior material, numerous other scratches, some touched up, and a few small holes in the canvas top.

Interior

Vinyl covered pontoons line the bucket edge and connect to the bench seat, also tan vinyl and in great condition. The typical T-bucket upright steering wheel rises from the floor in front of a tidy dash, body colored and housing a series of white faced, metal rimmed Classic Instruments gauges. On the floor, a billet shifter is also simple and clean and surrounded by brown loop mats. Aside from a visible zip tie and some wires or two, the interior is clean and minimalistic.

Drivetrain

Out front we have the lead actor in this show, a 350ci V8 with plenty of polished metal including the fantastic headers reaching out like tentacles to the side. An Offenhauser intake rises to accept two QuickFuel 4-barrel carburetors and everything climbs a bit higher with the Weiand type air scoop. FlowTek aluminum heads are on board, lightening things up a bit, and a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission sends power to the Ford 9″ in the back. Disc brakes are up front and very visible, while drums are tucked in the back, a bit more discreetly.

Undercarriage

It’s all clean underneath with no panels or belly pans to hide the inner workings of the car, so wires, linkage, and components are all visible. It looks like some LED lights are underneath as well for a bit of nighttime fun. No dirt or grease build up however we do note some drops on the rear diff and on the transmission pan, which is a dress up piece in polished metal. A chromed transverse leaf spring is up front and a four bar arrangement with coilovers are in back.

Drive-Ability

If a dragster, an amusement park ride, and a Naugahyde booth as a steakhouse had a baby, it would be this T-bucket. It’s such a classically American invention that they will forever be cool. And, they are all loud, this one not excluded. It rolls straight with more power than we’d like to apply, but rest assured, this light vehicle has big power. Ultimately, it’s a cruiser and performs well on the test loop with all functional items working as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

These were the original hot rods. The original resto-mods and the ultimate in cool rides. Nerds don’t ride these, these are Fonzie, not Richie Cunningham. Elvis, not Perry Como. Hell’s Angels, not Charlie’s Angels. If you’re in the market for a T-bucket, this one absolutely has to be on your radar.

Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (that’s more than 8 acres!). The largest single location consignment dealer of classic and collectible vehicles in the country is located in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, just 1-hour west of Philadelphia off Exit 298 of the I-76 Pennsylvania Turnpike. For more information visit or call us at 610-901-3804. Contact us anytime for more information or to come see the vehicle in person.

With so many great cars, you know we have a lot to talk about, and we do that each week on the Classic Auto Mall Podcast with host Stewart Howden. Stewart discusses new inventory as well as trends in consignments and car prices, while interviewing celebrities and automotive professionals about amazing cars and their history. Tune in each week to the Classic Auto Mall Podcast wherever you enjoy listening. You can also watch on YouTube!

1925 Ford Model T Express Delivery

The success of the mass-produced Ford Model T will forever be recorded in history books. With its launching in 1908, it was built in multiple styles through 1927. With generational design changes along the way, the Model T sold confidently each year as a practical, inexpensive vehicle affordable by almost any working individual with plenty of parts and service centers located just about anywhere you needed. Henry Ford continued to produce America’s affordable Model T at a rapid pace into the late 1920’s, averaging over 1 million units each year! The simplicity of the design, along with nine model choices to choose from, made Ford an easy choice for budget conscience buyers. In some cases, specialty bodies were supplied by independent coach builders to suit individual client requirements, especially in the commercial market.

In the case of this Model T offered here, the body was supplied by Kratzer Carriage Company who built quality, hand-crafted bodies specialized for use as delivery equipment. They were based in Des Moines, Iowa with over 20 distributors throughout the entire state. Their bodies were sold totally constructed using top-grade materials, complete with paint and pinstriping to the buyer’s discretion, and 100% ready to simply bolt onto a Ford chassis.

This Model T offered here is fitted with their Express Type Delivery Truck body. Note the twin hinged doors on both sides with special handle locks when closed & body side retainers to hold them open when necessary; two drop side windows and a rear sliding window for extra ventilation; as well as upper and lower front windshields that also pivot to allow air flow from the front. The seatback cleverly hides coiled springs behind the cushion for added comfort to the driver on longer voyages. At the rear, you will find a flat bed with stained wood planks along with a special, fully boxed enclosure for hauling payloads more securely. Atop each side rail are removable display billboards that can be later personalized to your own taste, along with a folding and removable rear tailgate panel to unload cargo with ease!

This beautiful 1925 Ford Model T Express Delivery Truck was restored many years ago and continues to look and drive truly excellent! Under the hood remains a period correct 177ci Inline 4-cylinder engine rated at approximately 20 horsepower mated to a 2-speed planetary transmission. Our example here was further enhanced with a Rocky Mountain 6-speed transmission which triples the gearing range of the Ford transmission with an Under Drive, Direct Drive, and an Overdrive option for each of the forward gears, even reverse. According to Rocky Mountain literature, this provided 85% more pulling power, and 25% higher top end speed for traveling. They are extremely durable and have a proven industry history.

Other features on this incredibly special Model T include oil wick cowl lamps and rear stop lamp, electric headlamps with Ford lenses, added electric taillamps, auxiliary water pump, electric horn and a brass bulb horn, Ford amp meter, Boyce winged motometer, wood steering wheel, and interior rubber floor mat. This Model T has a documented history dating back to 1960 while still being shown and enjoyed in the Iowa region. It would migrate to Omaha, Nebraska in 1967 where it would earn top honors at the Omaha Antique Auto Hall of Fame Show, and later featured in the Sunday World-Herald Magazine of the Midlands in July 1971 as part of an article highlighting Omaha’s Centennial Model T Club.

Upon arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum & Sales, our service team performed a comprehensive inspection. We ultimately replaced the older gas tank for a brand new unit, sediment bowl with shut-off valve, and drain petcock; rebuilt the carburetor with steel needle & seat, bowl shim, spray nozzle, and gasket set; brand new water pump, connection pipe, hoses & clamps; new 180 degree thermostat, new fluids and oils from the radiator the rear axle; transmission oil screen and cover door gasket; and new ignition switch. It runs absolutely amazing and is ready for the next owner to show with tremendous pride! A Model T in this condition will never last long! Please call with any questions or to schedule your chance to review it in person.

1929 Ford Model A FORD ROADSTER, HOT ROD, MODEL A,

This mean looking 1929 Ford Roadster follows in the time tested tradition of building Ford hot rods, a process that developed through years of high speed testing on the dry lakes and wide open roads of sunny Southern California. Roadsters such as the one offered here are generally referred to as traditional hot rods for their adherence to period correct components, functional appearance and mechanical simplicity that characterized the cars that were built in the early 1950’s.

This hot rod is constructed atop a 1932 ford frame, with a “deuce’ grill shell, a dropped front axle, and a radically raked Dual vee’d windscreen. This classic Rod features a powerful 460 ci Cobra Jet V-8 engine backed by a 4 speed manual and a robust 9 inch rear which is held in place by an equally rugged 4 link suspension. From every angle it is clear that this Roadster has the right look. Stance and wheel choice define the attitude of any hot rods and this car has wisely been equipped with the period correct wheels with skinny bias ply tires. The fenderless bodywork has a great period correct character and the black paint, well worn interior, and several trails of louvers along the hood and rear deck complete the image of the 1950’s.In addition, this roadster is outfitted with a soft tonneau cover providing a nice touch that harkens back to the early days of dry lakes racing!  The body of this car is all steel Brookville, carrying an honest patina, with aesthetic and worn in character. This is based on the fact that is car was built in the 90’s and has around 100k miles on it since as it was used as a daily driver for many years! The previous owner of this car was an avid early hot rod enthusiast and is said to have driven this car at El Mirage and Bonneville dry lakes for many years which has also added to the patina! This car appears in “THE MODEL A” CHAPTER of Bo Bertilsson’s popular book “RODS AND CUSTOMS” and was featured in “HOP UP” magazine many years ago.

THIS 1929 FORD ROADSTER IS VERY DRIVABLE AND SHOULD APPEAL TO THE HOT RODDER AND DEEPLY INGRAINED PURIST AS WELL AS THE CASUAL VIEWERS ALIKE.  FOR THE PRICE OF A NEW GLASS-BODIED, BILLET-CLAD FAUX HIGHBOY

ONE CAN DRIVE THIS ALL-STEEL ROADSTER AND EXPERIENCE THE TRUE FEEL OF EARLY HOT-RODDING.
