This 1927 Model T Roadster Pickup was purchased by the seller in 2013 to be his personal freedom vehicle. The owner served in the Navy for 33 years in the submarine service logging almost 16 years submerged. He retired as Chief of the Boat (Master Chief) and decided to express himself with the artwork on this very impressive hot rod. The engine is a 500 CI Cadillac that was pulled and rebuilt by Joe’s Engine Shop in Concord, Ca. It is a high compression engine 10 ½ to 1 with a mild cam and a Street Demon 625cfm carburetor setting on an Edelbrock 2115 intake manifold. The exhaust headers are baffled and the sound is rich but not too loud. The engine is backed by a TH350 feeding into a Ford 9 inch rear end with 3.0 open gears. The body of the car is all Henry Ford steel. The frame has been zeed in the rear with coil spring suspension and ladder bars while the front is sitting on a suicide perch with transverse Posies springs, split wishbones and a dropped axel. The dual master cylinder operates drum brakes on all 4 wheels. The overall theme is military with a matt brown paint highlighted by rich pinstripes and some tasteful artwork reminiscent of that painted on the noses of WWII aircraft. The military style bucket seats are surprisingly comfortable with a very sparse amount of OD green upholstery. The fuel tank is nestled comfortably in a bed surrounded by OD Green upholstery. This car is fun to drive and does come with a pair of goggles for the driver and the passenger as the chopped windshield does not deflect all of the bugs coming your way when driving.
The car is registered as a 1927 Ford in the state of California. It is registered till April of 2025.
Unfortunately, the owner passed away and I am a friend listing the car for his daughter. For that reason, I set the price of this car well below what it would cost to build one like it.
